Role Overview
We are looking for a CFD Automation Engineer to join our team and play a key role in automating and optimising computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workflows. Your work will help streamline CFD simulations, making them more efficient, scalable, and integrated into our ship performance prediction models. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge developments in maritime hydrodynamics and performance optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Workflow Automation: Develop and implement automation tools to streamline CFD simulations and post-processing.
- Modelling & Simulation: Set up, run, and analyse CFD simulations to support ship performance modelling.
- Integration: Work with software developers and naval architects to integrate CFD results into performance prediction frameworks.
- Optimisation: Improve simulation efficiency through scripting, parallelisation, and high-performance computing (HPC) techniques.
- Data Management: Develop tools to manage, store, and analyse large-scale CFD datasets.
- Documentation & Best Practices: Establish guidelines and best practices for CFD automation and simulation workflows.
Requirements
Required:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- A degree in Engineering, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- Strong experience in automating CFD workflows using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
- Knowledge of CFD solvers such as OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+, or ANSYS Fluent.
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) and parallel computing techniques.
- Strong understanding of numerical methods and turbulence modelling.
- Ability to work collaboratively with software developers and domain experts.
Preferred:
- Experience in ship hydrodynamics and maritime applications.
- Familiarity with optimisation techniques for CFD simulations.
- Knowledge of machine learning applications for CFD acceleration.
- Experience with cloud computing for CFD simulations.
