Content Usage Policy

Use of Creative Commons Licensed Content

At Syroco, we are committed to fostering open access to knowledge and resources. To achieve this, we use content licensed under various Creative Commons licenses throughout our platform. These licenses promote the free sharing, distribution, and adaptation of content under specific terms.

The types of Creative Commons licenses we use include:

  1. Attribution (CC BY) – This license allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as proper credit is given to the original creator.
  2. Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) – Similar to CC BY, but with the requirement that derivative works must be licensed under identical terms.
  3. Attribution-NoDerivs (CC BY-ND) – This license allows for redistribution, both commercially and non-commercially, as long as the work is not altered and is passed along in its original form with proper attribution.
  4. Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) – This license allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work non-commercially, and while new works must acknowledge the creator, they don’t have to be licensed on the same terms.
  5. Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) – Allows non-commercial redistribution, adaptation, and remixing, with credit given to the original creator, and requires that derivative works be licensed under the same terms.
  6. Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs (CC BY-NC-ND) – The most restrictive license, only allowing others to download the works and share them with credit to the creator, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.

User Obligations

When using or interacting with content licensed under Creative Commons within our platform, you are agreeing to abide by the terms specified by the applicable license. Attribution Guidelines

  • Always provide appropriate credit to the original creator of the content.
  • If you adapt or build upon the content, ensure that you comply with the specific requirements of the license, such as sharing under the same license or not using the content for commercial purposes.
  • When redistributing the content, clearly indicate if any modifications were made.
