Meet Ashutosh, Fleet Manager at Syroco Onwatch

Stemming from Rishikesh in northern India - known as the city of yoga - Ashutosh has followed a path shaped by curiosity, responsibility and a deep sense of care. And indeed, what stands out most in his journey is the quiet responsibility he carries - and the thoughtful way he supports those at sea.
After studying electrical engineering, he spent several years working in the social sector, supporting children in shelter homes and contributing to public policy initiatives in his home state.
In 2019, he discovered voyage optimisation and shifted fully into weather routing and vessel performance analysis. This combination of technical work and human-centred purpose is what now defines his role at Syroco.
What drives him?
For Ashutosh, everything begins with a simple question:
“Would I sail this route if I was on board?”
Safety drives him every day. He reviews every route with care - looking for difficult passages or weather risks that may require a deviation. Optimisation only comes once safety is fully ensured. With that regard, he is fully aligned with the priorities of our users.
What motivates him most is not the analysis itself, but its impact at sea. A well-timed recommendation can help a crew avoid bad weather or navigate a difficult system with confidence. For Ashutosh, this sense of responsibility is central: he knows that a single decision can change the course of a voyage.
Helping masters feel supported and confident in their choices is, for him, the most meaningful part of the job.
What matters most?
What matters most to Ashutosh is building trust. His long-term goal is clear:
“I want every master and client to know that if Syroco proposes an option, it is safe and valuable.”
This trust is built voyage after voyage - through clear explanations, transparent reasoning and a genuine human touch behind every recommendation. Whether it’s avoiding a fast-developing low-pressure system, reducing wave exposure or achieving measurable fuel savings, Ashutosh values the clarity and reassurance he brings to crews at sea.
And beyond work?
Outside of work, Ashutosh reconnects with creativity. He is passionate about music, plays the guitar, and enjoys writing - especially poetry. It’s a way for him to slow down, reflect, and stay connected to what inspires him.
In everything he does, Ashutosh brings the same calm, thoughtful presence - whether reviewing a route or writing a line of poetry.
