Syroco Becomes Associate Member of BIMCO to Support Standardisation and Digitalisation in Global Shipping

Marseille, France - June 12, 2025 - Syroco, the climate‑tech company delivering performance and voyage optimisation solutions to the maritime industry, is proud to announce that it has joined BIMCO as an Associate Member. BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council) is the world’s largest international shipping association, known for developing standard contracts and advocating for sustainable, efficient maritime operations.

This membership reflects Syroco’s commitment to contributing to the development of practical, standardised frameworks for digital innovation and decarbonisation. By joining BIMCO, Syroco will engage with shipowners, operators, charterers and other technology providers to support the adoption of digital tools, transparent emissions reporting, and contractual clauses that reflect the evolving operational landscape.

“Joining BIMCO is a strategic step for Syroco,” said Alex Caizergues, CEO and Co‑founder of Syroco. “Our work on digital twins, performance modelling, and emissions optimisation directly aligns with BIMCO’s initiatives on standardisation and digitalisation. We’re excited to contribute our technical expertise to support the evolution of industry norms.”

Syroco’s platform, Syroco Live, uses physics-based simulations and real-time data to optimise voyages and reduce fuel consumption and emissions in compliance with regulations like FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS. As part of BIMCO, the company will be at the core of the development of digital standards, including those related to ship performance, voyage clauses, and emissions monitoring protocols.

This membership complements Syroco’s recent work with individual shipowners by broadening its engagement to the global shipping community across all vessel types and trades. It enables the company to help shape industry-wide standards that influence charterparty terms and performance-based contracting. By integrating BIMCO’s digital clauses and emissions frameworks, Syroco supports shipowners and operators in turning operational efficiency into competitive commercial value.
